Hannah Smith is a painter based in East Belfast, Northern Ireland. Combining both figurative and abstract elements, her paintings depict surrealist narratives. Working in oils, Hannah explores where performance sits in our everyday lives - how we change and adapt to the people who surround us and how much of ourselves we show, whether we are aware or not. Drawing inspiration from dystopian societies, unsettling themes run parallel to the euphoric facade of the work. She recently exhibited work with ‘The Black Box’, Belfast, and ‘The Courthouse Gallery and Studios’, Ennistimon, Ireland. In 2020, Hannah won the ‘John Richardson Award’ for her painting ‘Sunrise’ at the Royal Ulster Academy’s 139th annual exhibition held at the Ulster Museum.
